On January 6, 2010, a Call for Nominations was sent to Giving Circle members to encourage members to consider nominating themselves or other members for open Officer and Director-at-Large positions. After receiving input from Giving Circle members and the current Board, the nominating and election coordinator presented a slate of Officer and Director-at-Large candidates to the Board for their consideration. The Board approved the slate and recommends that Giving Circle members vote for all the nominees. Nominees elected will take office July 1, 2010 and will serve for two years as indicated on the ballot.

Any Giving Circle of Alexandria member who made a contribution to the Giving Circle of $100 or more between January 1, 2009 and April 15, 2010 is eligible to vote in this election. Each eligible member has one vote. Review the information about the candidates on the slate, then cast your vote by May 12, 2010 in one of two ways:

  • VOTE ONLINE by opening the ballot page and following the instructions to submit your vote.
  • VOTE BY MAIL by printing the ballot page, placing an “X” in the box next to your vote selection, printing your name on the ballot.  Then mail your ballot to Election Coordinator, The Giving Circle of Alexandria, P.O. Box 1627, Alexandria, Virginia 22313.

Please note that for your vote to be counted you must mark one of the four vote options.  To verify your ballot, we need to be able to read your name and determine that your ballot was received by the deadline for the vote, May 12, 2010.

A simple majority of votes cast by eligible Giving Circle of Alexandria members is required to elect the nominees. If an individual nominee or nominees are not elected, the Giving Circle of Alexandria Bylaw provisions governing vacancies will apply and the Board of Directors will elect a new officer or director with input from designated officer(s). If the entire slate of nominees is not elected, the Bylaws provide that the current Officers and Directors-at-Large will remain in place until a new election process is completed.

We expect to announce the results of the election at the Giving Circle Spring Celebration on May 19, 2010. Election results also will be sent to all Giving Circle members and to the larger community around that time.
