Over 75 Giving Circle investors meet at the historic Progressive Club in Old Town to celebrate another year of contributions to the Alexandria Community. Investors were introduced to new Board members: Hallie Smith, Peggy Stypula, Joanne Maldonado, Carri Stolz, Elsa Riveros and Jane Knops and thanked Aileen Pugh, Mary Beth Emson, and Jonelle Wallmeyer who are completing their terms of service. Dr. Morton Sherman shared his vision of the vital role schools can play in supporting families and building community, and he recognized and expressed an interest in The Giving Circle’s strategic focus on parental engagement.
In her report, Holly Sloan detailed the Giving Circle’s $332,000 investment in vital and innovative initiatives since our founding, and she noted how our cumulative gifts ranging from $100 to $8,000 annually have created this shared investment through which we are helping to build a multi-layered support system for parents for families – resulting in children who are happier, healthier, ready to learn and successful.
